Day 1: Lewis and Clark state park, 652 miles

We headed out of Puyallup just after 5am having very little sleep the night before.  The fireworks going off all night wasn't the only thing keeping us up. We were all so excited to head out on our adventure. With the truck packed to the gills, we headed for our first stop, Moses Lake.

The first leg was a quiet one, I drove
and everyone else slept.
Moses Lake brought us to our first Starbucks and McDonald's of the trip. Watch for frequent stops at these locations.

Before you know it we had hit state number 2!

Mom quote:
"This truck does not corner like my car does."-Cindi

In a blink of an eye we were in state number 3 and making our second stop, the famous 50,000 silver $ bar.
Mom quotes:
"You know you're a true republican when you buy your child weapons as souvenirs."-Cindi
In reference to Maddy passing her AP tests: "Now I don't have to pay for those college classes!!! Oh, I'm also really proud of you!"-Cindi
"I let you get a dagger, there is no way in hell I'm letting you get that too."-Joani

Teen and mom quote:

"Honey, they kill their own meat out here."-Cindi

After 12 hours of driving, fun stops and tons of laughing we made it to our first night's accommodations, a tipi at Lewis and Clark state park.
These teens enjoyed getting techy in the tipi.

It was a great first day. Even though we were sleep deprived we all agreed, even the teens, that it was fun so far.
My favorite thing today:
My son spent time looking out the window instead of at a screen!

Please note: internet service and power are in short supply at times,we are finding, so getting this blog done daily as planned may not happen!
